- Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia), in partnership with its social partner, Incredible Hearts PLT (Incredible Hearts), a social enterprise focusing on customised education and gamification approach, had successfully concluded Junior Entrepreneur Race Camp, a four-day camp held from 16 to 19 September 2024, designed to empower 80 primary school children from Pulau Tuba and Ulu Melaka in Langkawi, Kedah.
- Supported by the €34,990 grant (RM177,179) from Allianz Group’s Social Impact Fund (SIF), this camp is part of Incredible Hearts’ ongoing three-year programme for the youth of Pulau Tuba.
- SIF is Allianz Group’s key programme offering a strategic opportunity for Allianz operating entities around the world to receive funding for their local Corporate Citizenship activities, focusing on building cross-sector partnerships and measurable impact to support next generations.
- Built on ‘MoveNow’ component of SIF to enhance the motto of Olympics – move body, mind, and soul – the camp was aimed at fostering teamwork, leadership, and entrepreneurial thinking, through a unique combination of sports and entrepreneurship.
- Throughout the camp, participants engaged in competitive sports challenges, including archery, bowling, and badminton, honing their teamwork and problem-solving skills in competing as a team. One of the key highlights was a motivational session and badminton play demonstration for wheelchair-bounds with Mr Zulkafli Shaari, a local Paralympic badminton champion, who shared his inspiring journey of overcoming adversity and pursuing excellence.
- Learning sessions, covering topics such as financial literacy through classroom activities and ‘Money Matters’ board game also formed part of activities of the camp. Eco-cash, a program-exclusive ‘game currency’ earned upon completion of gamification and learning activities was introduced as business transaction simulations in the business pitching and products preparation.
- The participants then organised a Flea Market for the public, featuring booths selling products such as toys and snacks, as well as services such as face painting and hand massage.
- Head of Allianz4Good, Ng Siew Gek, said, “The Junior Race Camp and Social Entrepreneurship Programme has been a fantastic platform to empower the youth of Pulau Tuba in providing them with valuable opportunities for professional and personal growth. By blending sports with entrepreneurship, we hope to nurture the participants’ value of hard work, teamwork, and innovative skills that will benefit them in the future.”
- Chief Executive Officer of Incredible Hearts, Nurul Asna Hidayah, said, “We hope this experience expands their horizons and inspires them to be more active and proactive in creating opportunities through entrepreneurship, paving the way for a future where they can thrive both economically and physically. We are deeply grateful to Allianz Malaysia for their generous funding, which has enabled 80 children to be empowered through this impactful initiative.”
- The Financial Literacy and Social Entrepreneurship module is currently reaching the conclusion of its Beginner Level module after one year of implementation. Through the monthly sessions conducted, children learnt to track their saving, budgeting, and business plans. They will gradually move into Intermediate and Advanced Levels on its second and third year of implementation.
