Kuala Lumpur, 24 March 2023
  • Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia) is suporting the Malaysian contingent participating at the 10th International Abilympics, which will be held between 23 and 26 March 2023 at Metz Eurometropole in France.
  • The Company – via its corporate social responsibility arm, Allianz4Good – partnered the Malaysian Council of Rehabilitation (MCR), which is the national and international Abilympics coordinator in the country, for this competition.
  • Abilympics – coined from the phrase Olympics of Abilities – is a world vocational skills competition for persons with disabilities (PWDs), which has helped to overturn traditional views on the skills, potentials, and abilities of PWDs, resulting in increased employment opportunities and vocational stability.
  •
  • Allianz Malaysia supported the Malaysian contingent by funding the Abilympians‘ training sessions, travelling expenses, and preparation for the journey to France.
  •
  • Head of Allianz4Good, Ng Siew Gek said, “One of our main priorities has always been to ensure social inclusivity for the PWDs. We have been supporting the Abilympics since 2016 as we saw this as a global opportunity to help them improve their skills, which can help them find better employment opportunities and eventually, lead to financial security.
  • “As such, we are honoured to provide aid for the contingent via MCR, and lessen their financial burden, so that they are able to focus entirely on their preparation for the skills-based competition. We wish the Malaysian contingent the best of luck and can’t wait to see them make Malaysia proud again,” she said.

  • A flag-off event for the 16 Abilympians was held on Sunday, 19 March 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, before their departure to France. The ceremony was witnessed by the Allianz4Good team and MCR President Datin Paduka Khatijah Sulaiman.
