  • Double winners was the order of the day at the 3rd leg of the Allianz Junior Badminton Championship Dewan KBA, Alor Setar, Kedah with K. Joshua from Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid, Kedah; Teoh Min Yi from SMK Batu 5 and Lee Han Ning from SJKC Chung Hwa winning their respective categories in both Singles and Doubles.

  • After winning the U-15 Boy’s Singles title, Joshua partnered Chong Lee Qia from SMJK Sin Min to claim the Boy’s Doubles title. Min Yi from SMK Batu 5 was victorious in the U-15 Girl’s Singles and Doubles while Han Ning from SJKC Chung Hwa was a similar winner in the U-13 Girl’s category.

  • The newly introduced U-11 category saw a sister one-two finish with E Xingnee from SJKC Keat Hwa (H) defeating her twin from the same school, E Xingnian.

  • "We have a bond which is hard to describe. I just know what she is thinking and likewise, she knows what is in my mind too," said Xingnian. Added Xingnee, "We share everything together. We are in the same class in school and we also share a room at home. We will feel something’s amiss if we are not together".

  • The pair of 11-year-old studies at SKJC Keat Hwa (H) in Alor Setar and have been training under Tan Seng Hoe for the past two years. Seng Hoe is the father of national doubles player Pearly Tan.

  • Last year, over 2,500 players participated in AJBC and entries are expected to rise to 3,000 this year in the 10 Qualifying Rounds. Qualifying Rounds will be staged in various venues around the country such as Alor Setar, Cheras, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kluang, Pengkalan Chepa, Bukit Beruang and Kuantan.

  • The AJBC Grand Finals, featuring Under-13 and Under-15 finalists from all the Qualifying Rounds, will take place at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara from 20–25 November. Each round will see 24 players qualifying for the finals. The Under-11 players will not advance to the AJBC Grand Finals.

  • As in previous years, players participating in the AJBC Qualifying Rounds does not have to pay any entrance fees. The top three winners in the Qualifying Rounds, for all age categories, will earn RM500, RM300 and RM150 (singles) and RM600, RM400 and RM200 (doubles). Players finishing in the top three at the Grand Finals will pocket RM1,000, RM600 and RM300 (singles) and RM1,200, RM800 and RM400 (doubles).
